TechTuesday: Carnival and Facebook

Carnival is one of, if not the, the leaders in the cruise industry in utilizing social media. In keeping up with that trend, they recently announced their partnership with devoper Razorfish to launch the above facebook app. For those not familiar, a Facebook app, is a web application that you use and run entirely within the Facebook environment.

Carnival’s will allow you browse cruises and share them with friends. It allows you to browse by date, port of call, cabin type, all the things you would expect of an Expedia or Travelocity. If anything, the user interface looks gorgeous. Quotes and link after the break,

Jim Berra, Carnival’s chief marketing officer:

“A Carnival cruise is a very social experience and this application is a natural extension of our efforts to engage our nearly 250,000 Facebook fans in a unique and exciting way. By allowing our customers to share their cruising plans with Facebook friends, we are making it easier for them to plan group trips and encourage others to join in the fun.”
