Here’s an interesting rumor that I wanted to share. MSC may be placing an order for 4 ultra luxary ships soon. These won’t be nearly the same size of their mega ships that they’re currently building.
All the yards in Europe are booked up so they may be looking at some alternative yards in Europe. Due to the slump in the offshore industry, there are a lot of available yards. Several small expedition lines have taken advantage of this. Ponant is building 4 luxury expedition ships with Norway’s VARD. Scenic is constructing their newest ship at Croatia’s Uljanik. MSC may do the same here just to get the ships out sooner. This is just a rumor at this point so please take this with a grain of salt, however this definitely does pass the ‘smell-test’.
