Royal Caribbean Mulling Decision to Drydock Allure of the Seas

ALLURE OF THE SEAS

It’s being reported that the largest cruise ship has been forced to sail at reduced speeds for some time now. The 225,282gt ship is suffering from pod problems according to Royal Caribbean spokeswoman Cynthia Martinez. She states that while the pod is still functional, it cant reach 100%. As a result, her eastern itinerary has been slightly modified. I say slightly since all it involved is an hour early departure from Nassau and an hour late arrival in St Thomas. Her Western Caribbean routes are unaffected.

Travel Weekly reporter Tom Stieghorst is stating today that Royal Caribbean is considering a drydock to fully fix the problem. Back in March I explored the reasons that Royal Caribbean was sending the Oasis to Europe and her first drydocking. According to Tom, company CEO Richard Fain is considering sailing the Allure to Europe and replacing the Oasis’ drydocking with the ailing Allure. No further details are known just yet.
