Royal Caribbean and Chinese tour company Ctrip have agreed to dissolve their joint venture SkySea Cruises. This was the Chinese based line that operates the SkySea Golden Era (ex-Celebrity Century) since May 2015. In December of this year she will sail her last SkySea trip and then be transferred to Royal Caribbean’s U.K. brand Marella Cruises.
Marella was supposed to take the Mein Schiff 2 from TUI later this year however that ship remain with TUI for the time being.
SkySea Cruises was the venture that longtime MSC veteran Ken Muskat left to go head up.
Royal Caribbean Cruises Ltd. have drastically built up capacity in recent years in Asia, especially with two Quantum-class’ in the region. I have to wonder if maybe, just maybe, we’re starting to see a bubble in that market.
