The 48ft tugboat C-Pec capsized and sank yesterday on the Mississippi, forcing the Coast Guard to close the river at mile marker 8.
The Carnival Conquest was due in this morning for her weekly turnaround, but has been diverted since they aren’t sure when the USCG will reopen the river.
She’s now due into Mobile at 11:00am EDT. Subsequently, she will have to sail an altered itinerary for her cruise leaving today. The 6-night cruise will visit only Freeport and Nassau in the Bahamas.
Her latest AIS fix, as of this post, has her about 8nm outside of the entrance to Mobile Bay.
