Shock and aw when it was announced that the Pacific will be scrapped. Now normally the announcement of a 40- year old ship being sold to the Scrappers is no big deal. However, once word got out that she was the former Love Boat from tv, all sorts of news outlets picked it up. Even E! News picked it up.
Anyways, she was undergoing refits in an Italian yard for Quail Cruises, when the line entered severe financial difficulties. The extent of the repairs and enhancements were too much for any other option so the owners decided to sell her for scrap value. She will be beached supposedly in Turkey and then reduced to a pile of steel.
