NCL to Build its Own Cruise Port

75 acres in Southern Belize will be converted into an eco-friendly cruise terminal. NCL will invest $50 million to turn Harvest Caye into their private port. This seems like it will be NCL’s version of Royal Caribbean’s Labadee in Haiti.

IDEA Inc. of Orlando, Florida will design it.

NCL CEO Kevin Sheehan:

As our fleet continues to grow to 15 ships by 2017, we expect that we will double the number of guests sailing on our Western Caribbean itineraries and, once this new destination is complete,  bring four times as many guests to Belize than we do today

NCL was also the first line to buy their own private island in 1977 and sparked the trend of cruise line private islands.
