NCL has just announced that they have agreed with Fincantieri to build a fifth and sixth Project Leonardo Class ship. These additional ones will be delivered in 2026 and 2027. The 140,000gt class of ships will be quite smaller than their current flagships Norwegian Joy & Bliss, but they will be an entirely different class, different designer, builder and layout.
NCL had said that they wanted to go smaller so they can have a larger variety of destinations to offer as ports have been slow to enhance their ports and piers to accommodate ships 160,000gt and up.
The Leonardo-class’ will start launching in 2022.
