MSC and PortMiami to Build New Terminal

MSC Cruises and PortMiami have agreed to build a new terminal on Miami’s Dodge Island. The island is where the currently cruise terminals and pretty much all of the port is located. This new terminal will be able to process 14,000 passengers every turnaround day.

Built into the agreement are provisions to include preferential berthing for Saturdays and Sundays for MSC. Called Cruise Terminal AAA, it will be completed in 2022. This coincides with the delivery of their 200,000+gt class of ships. It is now safe to assume one of those ships will be coming to south Florida.

Missing in the announcement is the exact location. MSC currently sails out of F. Royal Caribbean’s new terminal is just off the map to the right. It can be assumed that MSC’s terminal will fall next to Royal’s Oasis class terminal, further down the island, or in front of terminal B, more inside the cut. However, this may be the location of NCL’s ‘Pearl’ terminal.
