Marella Cruises, formally known as Thomson Cruises, have announced that the Marella Spirit (ex-Nieuw Amsterdam, Patriot, Spirit, Thomson Spirit) will be leaving the fleet this next month. It seems last minute, but they didn’t have any cruises planed.
The ship is currently owned by Spirit Trading and has been operating on long term time charters to Thomson and Marella Cruises. Now that said charter party is up, she’ll be put on the market or be laid up somewhere.
The move is to make room for the adults-only ship Marella Explorer 2 (ex-Celebrity Century, SkySea Golden Era) which will join the fleet in 2019.
