John Maxtone-Graham Passes Away

Noted maritime historian, and one one of my idols, John Maxtone-Graham passed away this weekend in Manhattan, New York. Growing up I always used his novels in my research of the cruise industry. I couldn’t get enough of them! I’ve spent many summers reading his four most famous novels:
The Only Way to Cross – April, 1978
Liners to the Sun – July 15, 2000
Cruise Savvy – January 15, 2000
Queen Mary 2: The Greatest Ocean Liner of Our Time – April 28, 2004

His works are pretty much what hooked me into the cruise industry and partly the inspiration I needed to start this blog.

The New York Times has an excellent piece on his life.

May he rest in peace.
