Hurtigruten Shuffles Ships Around

The Norwegian cruise line will redeploy three vessels.

No doubt a consequence of losing out on a government tender to offer coastal voyages along the Norwegian coast, Hurtigruten will convert three coastwise ships to expedition. A source of income for Hurtigruten has been on their expedition side. In order to support this growth they need more ships until their newbuilds are launched.

The three ships being converted are:

  • MS Trollfjord – to be renamed MS Maud
  • MS Finnmarken – to be renamed MS Otto Sverdrup
  • MS Midnatsol – to be renamed MS Eirik Raude

All three ships will also be converted to hybrid vessels with battery packs powering some vessel services.
