Hurtigruten Buys Kleven

Hot on the heals of losing two newbuild orders by Norway’s Havila, Norsk yard Kleven has been acquired by Hurtigruten. Hurtigruten is the line that owns and operates ships along Norways coast providing an essential link between communities as well as passenger service on that route and on an Expedition ship, Fram.

Kleven has been in financial difficulties since projects dried up from the Oil crisis in 2015. They also ran into major issues building Hurtigruten’s two new expedition ships, Roald Amundsen and Fridtjof Nansen.

According to a statement, Hurtigruten is providing Kleven with around usd$73 million, so thats essentially what the yard sold for.
