First Look: Seabourn Ovation

Seabourn Cruise Line is undoubtedly one of the top cruise lines in the world. They’re nestled in the category of ultra-luxury and definitely live up to it. Their latest flagship, the Seabourn Ovation has just been delivered so let’s take a look at her.

The fifth ship in Seabourn’s fleet measures 40,350gt, 688ft loa and 92ft beam. She’s an evolution of their Odyssey-class. The three Odyssey-class vessels were all built at another Italian yard, T. Mariotti, whereas the Seabourn Encore and Seabourn Ovation were built at Fincantieri. You can see in the comparison below, while they look identical there’s an additional deck added and the bow goes one deck higher giving her a more pointed fore. Also by comparison, the Odyssey, Sojourn and Quest are all 32,346gt and the Encore and Ovation are all 40,350gt.

The vessel was just christened and named today by international actresses and singer, Elaine Paige (Not Ellen Page. I did a quick double take on that one). She technically already sailed on her inaugural voyage from Venice to Barcelona on May 6. However the christening and naming ceremony didn’t take place until today when the ship was in Valletta, Malta.
