Final Fate of STX Finland’s Rauma Yards Known

STX announced last year that they would be closing one of its Finnish yards for good. Roughly 700 jobs have been lost as a result. The closure comes amid South Korea’s STX Corporation’s massive financial troubles. The yard recently announced that they will sell the land and buildings back to the city of Rauma.  Rauma will then redevelope the land further for city purposes.

Cruise Business Online is reporting  STX will lease back the yard through June 2014 to finish out the remainign work they have there.
