A week after she was stranded in Seward, Alaska and had to eliminate all ports from her subsequent cruise, she broke down over the weekend. Reports were surfacing on message boards, and Cruise Critic first reported it. No word yet of the severity or if she’ll make her next cruise. Her current itinerary will most certainly be altered.
Royal Caribbean (Celebrity’s parent company) spokesperson:
Due to a mechanical problem in one of Celebrity Millennium’s two propulsion units, the ship returned to Ketchikan last night. The ship is capable of sailing without the affected unit; however, in an abundance of caution, the Captain decided the safer and more prudent action was to return to port to evaluate the issue… While in Ketchikan, our technical teams will make a full inspection of the unit, and assess the need for any necessary repairs.
