Carnival Horizon To Be Homeported In Miami

Carnival Vista, Sistership to the Horizon

Carnival announced today that the 2018-newbuild, Carnival Horizon, will be homeported in Miami. She’ll take up the Vista’s place once the Vista shifts over to Galveston.

Prior to sailing to the states, the ship, currently under construction in Italy, will sail a short Mediterranean season followed by a Transatlantic to New York on May 23, 2018. Most likely she’ll be christened in New York.

After that, she’ll stay in New York for the summer sailing 8-night trips to the eastern Caribbean.

She’ll start her Miami cruises on September 22, 2018 sailing 6-night western and 8-night southern and eastern Caribbean voyages.

This is similar to what the Vista did when she debuted last year. Only change with Horizon is they shortened the European season, and lengthened the New York season. Vista only sailed two cruises from Manhattan. Perhaps this is a sign of an anticipation of a weakening Mediterranean market.
