Carnival Horizon Christened in New York

Carnival Cruise Line’s newest ship, Carnival Horizon, has now officially been named and christened. At a ceremony last night in New York, godmother Queen Latifah poured the bottle of champagne over the ships bell.

Following the ceremony, Queen Latifah battled Philadelphia Eagles placekicker Jake Elliott in Lip Sync Battle: Horizon. Carnival will be rolling out a Lip Sync battle fleet wide this year. For those wondering, Queen Latifah sang “It’s Raining Men” while Jake Elliott sang “Here I Go Again.”

Carnival also took the opportunity to donate $100,000 to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. Since 2000, Carnival has donated over $16 million to fight childhood cancer.

Carnival Horizon stays in the Northeast this summer with a four-day cruise to Bermuda leaving today then a series of Bermuda and Caribbean cruises ranging from 4-8 nights. Then she’ll reposition to Miami for year-round six- and eight-day Caribbean cruises in the Fall.
