Carnival Corp. has announced that they have agreed with Germany’s Meyer Werft for the construction of a third ship for Aida. She will be based on the Excellence-class of vessels. The first in that line, AIDAnova, will be launched later this year. These are modified Hyperion-class (AIDAprima, AIDAperla) ships. It’s also the same design that Costa is getting with the Costa Smeralda.
This third newbuild will, like her sisters, be able to be powered entirely by LNG. The 183,900gt ship will launch in 2023.
