There are some rumors floating around the industry that Royal Caribbean’s 2015 newbuild Anthem of the Seas, will be homeported across the pond in Southampton, UK (either permanently or seasonally). The intent is to replace the Independence of the Seas, who is currently there seasonally.
I feel there is a legitimate chance that this actually occurs. Her sister, Quantum, will be out of New York permanently, so it makes sense that she goes elsewhere other than Florida. If they try to sail her out of Ft Lauderdale, there’s the risk that with Oasis and Allure there, they may overshadow the Anthem. Given then neat features that the Quantum-class have, they may not stand up to a Boardwalk, or Central Park found on the Oasis sisters. There is also the risk that they can “over-berth” the region and be unable to fill it up at the prices they want.
