Saga Cruises Rumored to be Planning Fleet Expansion
Saga Cruises, the cruise brand of Saga plc, is rumored to be exploring the market for a new ship. Their fleet currently consists of the 1981 built, 18,627gt Saga Pearl II (ex-Astor, Arkona, Astoria) and the 1981 built, 37,049gt Saga Sapphire (ex-Europa, SuperStar Aries, Bleu de France). The Saga Ruby (ex-Vistafjord, Caronia) has departed the fleet and has been renamed Oasia.
They are said to be looking in the second hand market for a ship with similar sizes to their current fleet.
They also have stated that a newbuild “is not completely off the agenda.” I doubt they would go that route though.
