Wind Star
Wind Star is a four-masted motor-sailing yacht operated by Windstar Cruises, originally built in 1986 and last refurbished in 2023. The vessel measures 440 feet in length with a beam of 52 feet and a gross tonnage of 5,307. Designed for small-ship cruising, Wind Star accommodates 148 passengers in 74 ocean-view staterooms, including one Owner’s Suite, across four decks. Propulsion is provided by a diesel-electric system integrated with computer-controlled sails, allowing speeds of up to 15.8 knots under sail. The ship’s shallow draft and compact dimensions enable access to smaller ports that are inaccessible to larger cruise vessels.
Wind Spirit
Wind Spirit, an identical sister ship to Wind Star, entered service in 1988 and operates as a four-deck, four-masted motor-sailing yacht under Windstar Cruises. Measuring 440 feet in overall length with a beam of 52 feet and a gross tonnage of 5,703, the vessel is configured to carry up to 148 guests in 73 ocean-view staterooms plus one Owner’s Suite.
