Looking Ahead: A (Very) Quick Getaway on Oasis of the Seas

I’ll be setting out soon on a short two-day cruise aboard Oasis of the Seas. The itinerary is simple—just one port, Royal Caribbean’s private island destination, Perfect Day at CocoCay.

It will be interesting to see just how much one can fit into such a quick sailing. Normally, Oasis-class cruises never are this short, and even then you can leave the ship feeling like there was more to explore. On this trip, the challenge will be to experience both the ship’s iconic features and the island in less than 48 hours.

I’ve sailed on her sister ship Harmony of the Seas before (check out that full ship tour here). While Harmony of the Seas is technically a newer vessel, Oasis of the Seas has since been Royal Amplified, bringing her up to date with some of the latest onboard features. This should make for an interesting comparison between the two.

Royal Caribbean’s new Utopia of the Seas is designed around the 3/4-night getaway model, but this cruise is even shorter—just two nights. That difference of one day may not sound like much, but it could mean the line between feeling like a mini-vacation and just a “ship sampler.”

I’m curious to see how the cruise experience adjusts to such a compact format: entertainment, dining, and even the vibe onboard. Can two nights on one of the largest ships in the world deliver the same energy as a weeklong cruise? I’ll find out soon—and share the results here.
