Looking Ahead: Returning to Windstar for Another Mediterranean Adventure

Next week, CruiseInd returns to Windstar Cruises for another voyage through the Mediterranean. While I had the opportunity to sail aboard the magnificent Wind Surf last year and produce a complete tour of the ship, this voyage marks my first time aboard Wind Spirit. As the smallest vessel in Windstar’s fleet, carrying just 148 guests, Wind Spirit promises a much more intimate sailing experience while retaining the relaxed atmosphere and personalized service that have become hallmarks of the cruise line.

Our journey begins in Civitavecchia, the gateway to Rome, before crossing to the French island of Corsica. Calls at Bastia, Ajaccio, and the spectacular cliffside town of Bonifacio promise a blend of historic ports, dramatic coastlines, and picturesque harbors. From there, the itinerary continues to the Italian island of Sardinia, including an overnight stay in Alghero, allowing plenty of time to experience the city’s medieval streets and waterfront after the day visitors have departed. The voyage concludes with a visit to Golfo Aranci before returning to Civitavecchia.

Although Wind Spirit shares the same classic sailing yacht design as her sister ships, she offers her own distinct personality. Measuring just over 14,000 gross tons, she is less than half the size of Wind Surf and accommodates fewer than 150 guests. That smaller scale creates an even greater sense of intimacy onboard, where nearly every lounge, restaurant, and deck is only a short walk away. I’m particularly looking forward to seeing how the experience differs from Wind Surf and how Wind Spirit’s compact layout influences both the onboard atmosphere and the guest experience.

As always, I’ll be documenting every aspect of the journey for CruiseInd. Expect detailed ship photography, deck-by-deck coverage, port guides, behind-the-scenes looks at the sailing yacht itself, and plenty of videos from both onboard and ashore. You can also follow along in real time on Instagram, where I’ll be sharing daily updates throughout the voyage before the full articles, galleries, and ship tour are published here on CruiseInd.
