The first ship in Virgin Voyages fleet has finally met the water.

Over the weekend, the Scarlet Lady came into contact with water for the first time. The event took place at the drydock in Fincantieri’s Sestri Ponente yard in Italy. She was planning on sailing out of the drydock and going to a fitting-out berth but she developed a ‘technical issue’ and her shifting (which is never done under her own power and is always done with tugs) was postponed.

The 110,000gt ship’s hull is now complete as is most of her superstructure. She’ll now have her interiors worked on and is still on track for a debut in April 2020.

They also announced that all extra dining, basic beverages and gratuities will be included forever (not just as an inaugural promo.). She’ll go on sale in just a few days on February 14.
